Mass for the Day of Pentecost
Mass for Pentecost, called Whitsunday will be on Sunday, May 31st at 3 PM at St. Martin of Tours and broadcast live on our Facebook page. Our leaflet is now available.
As a reminder, the obligation to attend Mass in the Ordinariate of the Chair of Saint Peter is commuted today by Bishop Steven Lopes. This means that the obligation of the Christian faithful is met through one of the two following pious practices:
a. Prayerful reflection upon the Scripture readings, concluding that time by the recitation of the Prayer of Humble Access or the Anima Christi. This includes prayerful watching of our livestream mass. b. The recitation of the Rosary as a family. Spiritual reflections on the Rosary begin on page 333 of the St. Gregory's Prayerbook.
Prayer of Humble Access We do not presume to come to this thy Table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in thy manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under thy Table. But thou art the same Lord whose property is always to have mercy. Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of thy dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body, and our souls washed through his most precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen. Anima Christi Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me; Blood of Christ, inebriate me; Water from the side of Christ, wash me; Passion of Christ, strengthen me; O good Jesu, hear me; Within thy wounds hide me; Suffer me not to be separated from thee; From the malicious enemy defend me; In the hour of my death call me; And bid me come unto thee; That with thy Saints I may praise thee; For ever and ever. Amen.
